I’ve been using Tenofovir for PrEP and wanted something that could fit into a normal routine without too much fuss. I had a mild headache and felt a bit tired when I first started. Neither lasted long, and after the adjustment period I stopped noticing anything unusual. For me, the biggest benefit is the peace of mind it gives alongside the other precautions I take.

My experience with Tenofovir has been fairly uneventful, which is exactly what I hoped for. There was a little nausea at the beginning and one or two headaches. After that, no obvious day-to-day problems for me. I keep up with the recommended blood tests and otherwise don’t spend much time worrying about it.

The beginning was a bit rougher for me than some of the experiences I’d read about. I had nausea, headaches and felt generally washed out for several days. Thankfully that improved rather than carrying on indefinitely. Once things settled, the medication became much easier to live with. I’m pleased I mentioned the symptoms at my appointments instead of quietly worrying about them.

I started Tenofovir as part of an HIV treatment combination and didn’t notice a dramatic change in how I felt. There was a little tiredness at first, but it was difficult to separate that from everything else going on at the time. After a few weeks my routine felt completely normal again. I actually prefer medication experiences that are boring, and this has been fairly boring in the best possible way.

I’ve been on a Tenofovir-containing treatment for some time and the experience has been surprisingly routine. At the beginning I felt more tired in the evenings and occasionally had a headache. Those effects gradually faded rather than getting worse. My regular monitoring has remained part of the process, but day to day I rarely think about the medicine itself. That normality means quite a lot to me.
